Bedroom Sneak Peak

So after having to redo the bed THREE times over for my daughter, having to purchase a new frame AND mattress and boxspring at THE LAST MINUTE...her room has become quite the adventure and headache all at the same time. I'm so excited for this room to be done...literally. Don't get me wrong, I think it is turning out beautifully and my vision for it is turning into reality, but this has been quite the adventure. You name it...and it has gone wrong.

I'm just waiting for some more things to arrive in the mail and a few more things to be painted. We're on the home stretch though and I wanted to give you a little sneak peak into what is going on in there...

Dress Revamp

When I went to South Padre to see the fam, I know I would need some swimuit coverups and things that would qualify as clothing at the same time. My parents run a jet ski business on the water, so when we were there with them, your constantly on the water and either at the dock or at the beach. Since you have to run around at times throughout town, I kind of wanted something past the shorts and shirt thing.

While purusing Old Navy one day, I spotted a great sundress, but in a size XL. For a few bucks I sat there thinking "I think I can do something with this"...and if not, well I was only out a few bucks. I forgot to take a before picture, but let me tell you, it was a big moo moo looking thing with two big ruffles, one on the top and one on the bottom. Since I'm a little on the shorter side, the below the knee length never works for me.

So...after a few cuts, some stiches and repins here and there...this is what I came up with. Since I had extra fabric, I made my daughter a mathching skirt with a matching headband...which turned out to be uber cute! Please excuse the messy room and lack of makeup or hairdo....it was my day off after all!

Busy Bees

I apologize that I've been MIA lately, but I have been trying to finish some projects that I had a goal to be completed this summer. One of the projects I am SO excited to share with you guys soon...it was a Pottery Barn inspired item for our living room and lets just say...I made our budget (and the dear hubby) happy by doing this one ourselves.

The next one involves finally getting on with my daughter's room redo. It is turning out great and I will be sure to share tidbits with you until the room is completed...well, as much as rooms get completed ;)

So here's some tidbits and I'll be sharing the final projects soon!

So how about you guys...what projects have you been wrapping up?

Back To Reality

After a week of no email, no blogging, no work...only the sun, waves and family, it's back to the real world for me now. If our vacation to see my family in South Padre Island did anything, it really did put it all into perspective. Once I came home, dear hubby and I agreed, moving is forseen in our future. We no longer love the cold winters in the mountains, and crave the old lifestyle of the ranch we used to have. So...with some determination and some hard work, we'll get there...eventually, waiting patiently in the meantime, and enjoying and waiting on the Lord for His direction.

Just as soon as the laundry is caught up and some much needed sleep is had, I have some new lovelies to share with you. Dear hubby just finished a painting for me, that I have been begging for for months and I scored some goodies when we were at the antique market. Hope you all had a great week!

Im Off

Tomorrow...bright and early...my sister and I, along with our kids, are going to be sunning our white legs on the beaches of South Padre Island to visit family. So you won't hear from me for a bit...because i'm going to enjoy this downtime...because when I return, it's time to get down to the knitty gritty of redoing T's bedroom and somehow fit some much needed potty training in there too.
